| pjdscott | Dec 17, 2007 11:34pm | I've ordered but am still waiting (being part of a bulk purchase order) - I'm curious to know what you paid for yours (mine is supposed to be ST £30 (about USD $60)? Having come from an Apple era where new systems used to be supplied free, I have since got used to the fact that you need to pay for an occasional upgrade!
Did you get it through the AppleStore or a retailer etc? |

| | bigriver | Dec 18, 2007 7:37am | | I installed it the first day, it would not let me do an archive install, it wanted me to reformat my hard drives, so I backed it all up and did a fresh install, have not had any problems thus far. installed on a Mac Mini 1.66 GHz intel core duo. |

| danoshops | Jan 17, 1:02pm | | I upgraded about a week ago. I used Carbon Copy Cloner to backup to an external drive (it was unnecessary though). It was a bit rough on an external drive and my FireWire repeater (Belkin) no longer worked. My major design apps (Web Premium CS3) still work fine. I did have to update a few drive utilities, and yes this was due to a hard-drive being damaged during the upgrade. My iTunes playlists are all intact. After applying system updates all is working smoothly once again. |

| boredchem | Jan 17, 10:11pm | | I was going to wait for 10.5.2 but then I received an iPod Touch for Christmas and it simply wouldn't run on Panther. Everything went smoothly until I tried iPhoto and it crashed. I fiddled with deleting the preferences, but that didn't work so I had to do a clean install. Now everything is fine and dandy. |

A few minor annoyances, but nothing that makes me regret the switch. I think the new feature I'm getting the most use out of so far is Spaces. I actually had a third party app in Panther that gave a similar feature (YouControl Desktops) but this is far superior. I also really love the Stacks feature for browsing folder contents in the dock. I have Time Machine set up for backups, but can't comment on that too much as I haven't had much call to use it yet. I had high hopes for Coverflow view in the finder, and it's sometimes okay when browsing through image folders...but seems a bit slow and clunky at times. |
