Sponsor | WayneSmallman | Oct 26, 2007 12:53am | | Me personally, I'm waiting; I can't just drop a new operating system onto my Macs as I'm a developer, and it's too disruptive to my workflow. But that's just me .. what about you guys? Who's buying and who's waiting? |

I'm struggling as it is to get my G5 updated, so I can forget about 10.5 on there for the time being... |

Arrrgh. |

So far so good. No major glitches, and the new spaces/stacks features are great! |

Sponsor | MJ-Brutus | Nov 3, 2007 8:30pm | Bought a couple of Macs last month and I took advantage of the free upgrade to Leopard offer. A few small glitches here and there, but far zippier and even more intuitive than Tiger, with much improved graphics rendering.
Many 3rd party apps are rendered obsolete by Leopard, which is chock full of great new features. The redesigned Mail app alone is just cool beans. Great with the integrated To Dos and Notes. Stacks and Spaces work as advertised and have already spawned some more efficient work habits. Little details like the airport menu now showing which wifi signals are locked/encrypted and which open, is a welcome feature addition. Still need to get my new monster HD set up to my network to test out the limits of Time Machine, but initial reports are promising.
If history is any measure, then 10.5.1 should be released within the next 2 weeks, cleaning up minor glitches and allow 3rd party apps time to gain Leopard full compatibility.
OS X is such a mature platform now, that I see no major reason to sit out the first round or two of an upgrade release of the system software. At worst you might see some minor hiccups and 3rd party incompatibility and at best you get to have your sock blown off...
I still have so much yet to explore in Leopard. |

| | ickyelf | Nov 11, 2007 4:01pm | | I installed Leopard a few days ago. I'm a big fan of Cover Flow. Even though I've used workspaces in X desktops before, I think Spaces is a welcome addition to Mac OS X. My only complaint is that it broke my Unix fortune cookie program. |
