I'm using Mac OSX 10.4.6. My problem is that Firefox is lately workin bad with Mac, a lot of crasches and the forward-backward buttons often don't work. Do you have this problem?

Generally when I have had such problems in Fx, it is because of extensions.

I'd recommend that you start up in safe mode.

From that page:
[In terminal o]n Mac OS X, run:

    cd /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/
    ./firefox-bin -safe-mode

When started in Safe Mode all extensions are disabled and the Default theme is used. Disable the Extension/Theme that is causing trouble and then start normally.

To answer your question, I have OS X 10.4.6 and Fx 1.5.0.3 and everything runs just fine.

as a quick check you could make a new profile and see if it's working again

You might want to get the Intel optimized version (if you have an Intel system):

mobookie.com/firefox/firefox-2.0.0.8-intel-aqua.dmg [mobookie.com/firefox/firefox-2.0.0.8-intel-aqua.dmg]

I've been running it on my macbook pro for a while now and it works really well. Haven't had any major extension issues either.

I have a lot of problems with Firefox on my G5 running 10.3.8, all of which are intermittent but very persistent slow downs. Drives me mad.

I'm running the latest version of Firefox, and I tried turning off the Add-Ons, but it makes no odds.

However, all is fine on my MacBook Pro running 10.4.10 with the same Add-Ons. So it's still no more clear or obvious who's the cause of the problem...

Firefox 3 is going to be a Cocoa app, so it will be better integrated into the OS.

Which is good, because we'll be able to make use of the Services menu for the first time...

If you wanna use the services for speech, you can do that another way. Setting a key assignments from the speech section in settings.
